  1. John Howard says:

My vote went to Paul Kilpatrick on Sea Otter 2. I have now fished with Paul for nigh on 15 years doing about 4 trips per season. Paul is always helpful and a true gentleman. We have seen the fishing at Whitby evolve over the years with new methods and tackle coming onto the scene. Paul has always helped us to acquire the skills to catch some decent fish every time we come to Whitby. We will continue coming to the port for the foreseeable future and we will continue to use Sea Otter 2 because you always catch fish with Paul.

  2. simon bowes says:

ive voted for john wilford 2 doggs he always looks after us (boulby mine crew) we book 5-8 trips per year and always finds the fish last year we had 1 haul ov 90st ov fish on board excellent fishing and a top skipper!

  3. Fazbats says:

It’s Paul Eddon for me too ( Got to say that as I’m out with him tomorrow   ) Top man, Helpful, Good for a laugh Always puts you on the fish ….OOOPPPPS Hope that’s not put the jinks on me

  4. Bait Pump says:

Got to be Paul skippering Sea Otter Two Top guy went off with him Tuesday this week one hell of a day will post report later had to go away Wednesday morning just got back so will put report up in a while. I’ve been travelling to Whitby for over twenty years and been on a number of boats and can’t recall a “bad trip” and top skipper really has to be the one that sends you home smiling so its hats off to them all from me

  5. Ivan Bell says:

Mike has not set up in Whitby yet.so it is rather unfair to list him yet.
However I have voted for him after a test charter out of Hartlepool.
Mikes experience, confidence and understanding of anglers made for a very good trip
Alans enthusiasm also shows in how the Wildcard is fitted out.
    Roll on this April

However I have always had pretty good trips from Whitby and must mention Paul (Sea Otter) Richard ( Shytorque) Rus (Lone Shark) and George (Chieftain)

  6. Alan Jackson says:

I’ve just voted for Paul Kilpatrick. He’s putting his anglers on the fish and revealing what’s catching them.

  7. Jack Jameson says:

I voted for Rich Ward the skipper of Shytorque. His record as a charter skipper will not be bettered. He has help anglers on his boat catch cod in excess of 40 pounds. Rich Ward is surely the number 1 Whitby Charter Skipper this is for sure.

  8. chris wake kilnsey says:

all the skippers work hard for their respective anglers but i think rich just has the edge always trying to put us over fish and a decent bloke too

  9. ste evans says:

sad to say ive only been on one trip in my life but paul sea otter was very good and patient needed to be with novice like me

  10. dean ross says:

i’ve just voted for mike freeman/ alan jackson. they made a trip very enjoyable after it was unsuitable to anchor on a large wreck due to weather and tide conditions. mike worked his socks off to find wrecks which kept the fish coming over the gunnels so fair play to them! i know there are some quality skippers operating out of whitby at the moment that i have’nt tried but i dont feel i need to change from wildcard if they continually put the effort in to find the fish, which sadly is’nt the same story from the bridlington charters barring dave brown’s lizzard. best of luck, dean

  11. Kev Davies (Chesterfield) says:

My vote goes to Malc Pitman, very friendly skipper of the Sea Spray who caters for all skill levels ,been going out with Malc for over two years doing 5/6 trips per year both uptiding and wrecking.Malc works extremly hard to keep you on the fish and is always on hand to help out the less skilled, when the curse of the new multiplier that you have just bought kicks in.Malc himself is a dedicated fisherman and will always have a rod in his hand,to me this is always a good sign, knowing the skipper also enjoys fishing and is not just out to take your money, unlike some skippers from further down the coast who i have been out with, who just drop anchor sit in the wheel house and the next you hear from them is bring em in time up(sad) . we will continue to charter Malc and the Sea Spray for the foreseeable future

  12. Neil D says:

Got to be Paul Eddon for me as well. Top guy and a great help with all things fishing. Would highly recommend him and his boat.

  13. Dom O says:

Paul Eddon for me – what he doesn’t know about fish isn’t worth knowing.

  14. Mick Dunn says:

I voted for John after he took us out for our police compo on his boat never can tell a.
Worked hard drifting backwards and forwards over wrecks and i have to say it has been one of my most enjoyable boat trips. Lost a corker of a fish and john uttered the immortal words which will be in my head till the day i die “it would have won the compo if you had got that up”.
cheers John for a good day out.
    Mick Dunn.

  17. phil heslop says:

12 of us from work went out with kevin buick and malcom on heartbeat 25th july 09, most of the lads have never been out sea fishing before and everybody caught and had a very good day out, malc was as helpful as you could ever ask for, he was always there to help people whenever they needed it (which was quite a bit haha).
plenty of fish were caught 55 cod , plus mackrel and the odd whiting and a ling, afterward we were talking to a few lads who were out on other boats and they said they didnt do half of what we had.

everybody enjoyed it that much they all want to book up again soon thanks to kev and malc

  18. dunk sunderland says:

  19. Andy Baxter says:

    I voted for Rich Ward.
A great skipper who’ll do his best to help you catch fish. When in the pub for the fishermans tales he can drink like a fish too!
Thanks for the great days fishing. Sharking soon.
    Andy Baxter

  20. Frank Walker says:

Have been on Malcolm Pitman ’s boat on a good few occasions, with different clubs and individually. He will search all day long to get you onto fish plus he is a very helpful person guiding you on the best ways to target the fish you are after.
Thank’s for some great days fishing Malc,
    regards Frank Walker.

  21. mike says:
