The Bar Is Raised Yet Again – BenQ Captures The Latest Double Figure Cod

Forum Member BenQ is the latest site member to capture a big cod from his kayak whilst fishing out of Runswick Bay. In the space of a fortnight there has been 3 double figure cod caught from kayaks in the region. First of all Ken Oliver took a nice cod from Robin hooods bay. Then it was the perenial big cod catcher Sam Baxter who found a nice 10 pounder in Runswick bay. Then, last night it was the turn of Benq who managed a fantastic cod of 12 pounds 14 ounces, again from Runswick Bay.

Ben Says -

Went out for an evening session tonight, met sam and was on the water by 4pm.
headed out and started drift fishing whilst sam checked his pots, I was actually trying an area that we havent payed a great deal of attention to just while I waited for sam to play catch up and was at the end of my drift when bang, I was snagged………..or was I?
Ive had 6lber’s take line before but his thing was going for the gold, I had to knock the reel out of gear whilst I set the drag correctly and then played the fish,
took me 10 minuites to drag up, but once I did I couldnt belive what I was seeing.
Radiod sam to tell him I had what I belived to be a good double, sat on my lap, was there a chance we could weigh it on the beach whilst it was still fresh…….
