The annual European Open Beach Fishing Match 2010 (Formerly the The Bridlington Open Beach Fishing Match) got underway yesterday with the first event – “The Flattie Bash”. The weather was appalling with incessant rain and strong winds, but this did not deter 150 keen competitors from turning out on Bridlington beach.

A very poor evening indeed. Flat calm conditions on an ebbing tide meant catches were poor but Dave Perett found a codling of 3 pounds 2 ounces to win the match.
