Quite a few codling have come inshore with the easterly winds, which have totally wrecked the boat fishing, cod to 5lb have been taken from Middleton pier, with cod to 6lb coming from the Durham Beaches, with the Wear estuary and Ryhope marks producing codling to 3lb. For anglers travelling to the west coast Luce Bay has been on top form for tope, a small party of anglers out with Ian and Matty Burrett took twenty five tope to 35lb, plus bull huss to double figures and the odd smooth hound. However mackerel for bait has been very scarce. Pollock have been taken in reasonable numbers shore marks around the Mull, Port Logan, Port Patrick, and Kircudbright. Anglers using fish baits have taken mainly dog fish and a few rays.
