Boat fishing at Whitby is currently at a 10 year high with catches of cod both in numbers and in size on the increase, largely due to the EU cod recovery plan. The past few years has also seen an increase in the number of species being caught on sea otter 2. Pollock, Coalfish, Wrasse, Ling And even conger have all been caught on Paul's boat this summer. Shad fishing has become a very enjoyable method to catch fish on sea otter and has taken over from jigging as the main method to catch the summer species at Whitby. When the weather and conditions deny the opportunity to head off out to the wrecks Paul Takes uptiding trips to the inshore rock ledges at Whitby. Uptiding is a fantastic way to fish and simply involves casting a bait away from the boat. This method in no way plays second fiddle to the local wreck fishing and past winters has seen cod to almost 30 pounds taking on light weight uptiding tackle.
