The Penn 535 GS is a high speed casting reel is suited for casting, jigging, live bait fishing, or fast cranking lures. Precision machined stainless steel pinion gears and bronze alloy main gears make the 535GS more than a match for any fish. 4 aircraft quality ball bearings and a one way infinite anti reverse bearing provide ultra smooth performance.
The Penn 535 has long been dominant on rough ground marks where power reigns supreme. This reel just keeps on going, taking all anglers can throw at it. But all the time there is the ability to plant leads at extreme distances should the need arise. Also and excellent reel for shad fishing from boat.

When I first got my Penn 535 GS I felt like I had bought a bit of a duff reel. Everytime I cast the reel it was birdsnesting and running far too fast. I made a post to the Whitby fishing forum -

The advice I got was to open up the reel and reset the break blocks. I also added some thicker oil to the bearings and now the reel runs a treat. It casts well and the retrieval rate is the best I have found on any shore multiplier to date. This reel is truelly amazing and I would go as far as to say its far better than the mag version even though it comes in about £50 cheaper. If your after a good shore fishing reel for fishing the rough stuff, or you may be looking for a light boat reel for uptiding etc, the Penn 535 is the one for you.
