Pendulum, X Cast, Off The Ground, – Casting Tournaments And Tuition.
North East Surf Casting Association (NESA) -Â UKSF Affiliated
The North East Surf Casting Association (NESA) is a newly reformed branch of the United Kingdom Surfcasting Association (UKSF). The casting club hold training sessions on a weekly basis and hope to offer casting tournaments on a monthly basis (dependent on insurance and land rental).

North East Casting Tuition
The members of NESA meet at the Kirkletham showfields on the outskirts of Redcar most Thursday evenings right through the summer months. This is an informal practice and tuition session with the lads usually practicing their casting for up to 3 hours per session. Amongst the group are casting instructors who are willing to advise on a wide range of casting techniques including the off the ground cast, the x cast, and the pendulum cast (amongst others). Non members are welcome at these casting sessions and anyone wanting to learn to cast better should turn up on a Thursday evening between 5pm and 8pm and have a word with the lads.
NESA Member John Ward Says
“I don’t think that there are many that go into tournament casting to be the best in the world, but mainly to learn to cast a bait further when
necessary and more safely. Safety and confidence are essential for being able
to cast a lead a long way, both of which become automatic when you put in a bit of practice on the field. – Anyone wanting to come practice with us is more than welcome and I am sure they will find us to be a great set of lads who are more than willing to help”.

For anyone who wants to come along to one of our events don’t let the fact that it’s a competition put you off it’s a VERY laid back atmosphere with lots of friendly banter going on between casters .
DON’T think you have to be able to cast 200 yards plus to get on the oche or that people will take the p### at your efforts because they wont . Everyone of the top casters there has been in your position and know exactly what is going through your mind .
So if you require help just ask , all the NESA lads are very approachable and will go out of their way to help ( 3 or 4 are Sea Angler registered casting instructors ) and all the latest rods ,reels ,conversions etc will be on show .
It’s a great day out and the banter is second to none and for anyone who wants to learn to cast it’s the place to be just don’t take it too serious and above all have fun .
