Minn Kota, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric trolling motors, has introduced the Traxxis – the first ever transom mount motor which can be stowed with one hand. No more fumbling about with
release levers or buttons, just pull up on the motor head and you can rotate the entire prop and shaft completely clear of the water. Not only is this motor quick and easy to stow, it also has a new ergonomic tiller which both tilts and extends. The tiller can be angled upwards to 45° and extended from 9 ¼ inches to 15 ¼ inches; it also has a contoured grip. For compact storage the tiller folds down to lie parallel
with the shaft. For deploying the motor into the water there’s an easily accessible thumb release, and the motor has inbuilt practical features to ensure smooth operation when you’re under way.
The shaft can be angled at ten different positions and the depth adjusted with a quick-lock cam. A simple collar mechanism allows adjustment of the steering tension and locks tight when you want to stow the motor in a vertical position. Minn Kota motors deliver efficient, quiet power and this motor incorporates the Digital Maximizer™ function to conserve battery energy by controlling the power draw at various speeds. This gives an extended run time and the Traxxis also has a convenient push-to-test battery gauge to provide an instant status of your current charge. Other features include a composite shaft which is stronger than steel, flexes on
impact and is guaranteed for life. This motor also has the patented Weedless Wedge prop which is perfect for shallower waters because it is designed to pass effortlessly through weeds without labouring and draining the battery. The new Traxxis is available in variable speed and 5-speed in the 12 volt models and variable speed in the 24 volt versions. There’s a choice of thrust levels of 40, 55, 70 and 80 pounds and shaft lengths of 36 and 42 inches. Prices start at £299 and all Minn Kota motors have a three year warranty.
