Lockwood Beck Record Rainbow Trout

Sunday saw our forum members Dan Probert (Whitby Angling Supplies) and Miff head over to Lockwood Beck for a spot of fly fishing for rainbow trout. Dan is a regular sea angler and only takes the fresh water option when the conditions are wrong for his favorite type of fishing.

Miff is also a keen Sea Angler and only recently turned his attentions to fresh water fishing for trout under the guidance of young Dan.

Well its often said that certain anglers have what is known as the lucky Gene, and this certainly seems to be the case for Miff. After only four weeks of Fly Fishing he landed his personal best Rainbow trout of 18lb 04oz, which is also a new reservoir record for Lockwood Beck in North Yorkshire.

In his report to our angling forum, Daniel says

We had a day at lockwood beck this Sunday with miff off the forum.

We thought the day was going to be tough due to the strong sunlight and no wind. Well we were both proved wrong when Miff landed a new record trout for Lockwood at 18lb 4oz.

He also had another 2 fish for 10lb.

I struggled really but managed a nice 5lber and a small 2lber.

A massive well done to Miff whose only been fly fishing for around 4 weeks or so.
