hi all just a quick reminder to see if there are any of you out there that would be interested in entering a team in this years in the knock out comp,
briefly its a knockout fished home or away for fourman teams £5 entry per man , winning team is on a points basis , ie all members fish in pairs , one home one away and the winner of that pair gets one point, just to try and make it a bit fairer and stop one big bag winning it for the team
to start at begining of Nov and fished from flambro [ ish] to whitby/ boulby [ish]
any one wanting to know more just ask

Its a really enjoyable comp and a very good way to learn some new marks and techniques (and to occasionally show them how its done- although Chris only remembers the wins ;D).

There is some info on our site at :

    http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/yorkshire-fours.php

Get yourselves in it, youve nothing to loose and lots to gain :) :)

    Re: yorkshire fours

You need a team of 4 Dav, you and 3 mates then you let Chris Know you wish to fish (and ask if you can become an honary Yorkshireman ;D ;D). It could involve a bit of travelling if you get drawn away from home as sometimes there are teams from as far down as Brid (not a bad team to draw though as they often go Bemmo tops and so its good to learn from them :))

    Re: yorkshire fours

It pretty hard to explain Dav. But I'll try.

Your team of four gets drawn against another team of four. It is a one off match with the winning team going to the next round. For examples sake you get drawn away from Home so you speak to the opposing teams captain over the phone and arrange a date when you can all fish (you all have to fish on the same night). Your team of four meets up with the opposing team of four at a place of mutual agreement, eg if your fishing against cloughton then you often meet at the red lion in cloughton, the Whitby teams meet at Sandsend car park.

The opposing (home) team members will tell you where they will be fishing. Each will often go to seperate marks although it has been known for a couple of them to fish the same spot. When we fished cloughton 1 went to Hayburn Wyke, 2 went to long hole and 1 went to marine drive. Your team members then decide which of the opposing team members they wish to fish. You then head of with your chosen opponent to the mark they chose (usually in their car). There are four individual matches. The winner of each match is the person with the heaviest bag of fish. To win outright a team must beat the other team. If the Result is 2 each then it goes onto team weights.

Reading that Ive probably confused you more.

They are great fun and advantage usually lies with the home team although upsets have been known ;D ;D ;D. My advice is, if your at home, catch the first fish then go for a 2 hour walk to somewhere you know nothing swims , alls fair in love and angling 8) Thats just a joke by the way 8)

Yep, it's a very good comp guys. Really nowhere near as complicated as it might sound, & a pretty friendly affair!!

It took us until last year to find out there was another round after the first match, though!!! ;D ;D

Think cps has got our entry..

    Re: yorkshire fours

How things can change quickly. Just got a replacement for Mr Barmby ( back operation) and let you know we want to enter. Mick's just been on the phone, he's broken his foot (6 weeks in pot). So we no longer have a team and therefore can't enter. Sorry lads, the sand bashers will have to have a year out. :'( :'( :'(
