Whist out walking between the recent rain showers

noticed a few bad erosion cracks at top of runswick

from the old road, & along towards staithes on Cleveland way.

Port dock has the same type of cracks etc.

on the local news this morning the village may have to be abandoned

if the wall defences are left to neglect & not re-inforced.

so take care when near bottom of cliff/ path way down to linger nock area

from top of the village, it may go if we get more hard frosts/rain etc.

I think the village was abandoned 20 years ago. Only a few folk left down there and rumour has it they want to close the village off to the public with a gate at the top of the road, to "Keep the Riffraff Out !!"

    agree it was probably earlier,

1st dug bait there as a young un in 64, days adventure to travel there.

we used to mention over the years how few lights were on

from the houses when fishing during the night ,now lucky

if any locals from old down there. old man cole (salmoner)

got the old lifeboat shed. used to be a good digging place

on neap tides, as long as you didn't dig infront of the shed.

not many Yorkshire accents down there in summer unless visitors.
