As August approaches, I get my chance for a day at the coast before the glorious 12th (grouse season starts). My query is, how is the West Pier fishing, earlier reports suggest Mackerel are plentiful, is this still the case. If not, what is being caught, and by what method. Thanks in advance for any help/information etc.

Mackerel should be there through till the end of September, depending on how long the settled weather lasts.

as i came through the pier ends, people were hauling mackerel off the end, some charter boats were drfiting near the end and getting them too, loads to be had at the minute. upgang is worth a shot on the beach you will get flatties and a chance at the odd bass
