Unfortunately it isn't open. (or wasn't at 2pm today)

The people you may have seen on the webcam playing cards, sunbathing etc are, in theory, painting the railings on the pier.

Not sure why this means it could not be opened or why they could not have done the painting before but ours is not to reason why.

Great news. It's just as well that it's been closed during the sh1te weather, not that bloody council were to know. This is going to please the Whitby tackle shops with the weather about to improve dramatically.

Too late for Jackie and Martin at Whitby Angling Supplies, they are closeing their shop in Haggersgate only keeping the one in Church Street open. Another bloody charity shop opening in Whitby !!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about that, but hopefully the shop on Church Street will flourish. I can't imagine Whitby without a tackle shop.

The council just needs to get its finger out, and get the East pier access sorted.
    Cheers Col.

Agree with you there Col just seams like they are leaving it to rot away what a shame. The council need to wake up and have a good look at what they have that can be a major asset to them.
