Whitby charter skippers once again held there grand summer festival presentation night at whitby fishermans club with local band nostalgia playing .

The festival this year was again a great sucess with only one day lost due to bad weather everybody was keen from the start chaseing the massive prize of £5000 being sponsored for the 4th year running by our president mr glenn stocks from rotherham with the 2nd prize of a £1000 being sponsored by the whitby Lva arbuts cafe sonsored the special prize for the biggist cod .

The weather throught the competition was up and down but the fishing this year was excellent but it was on the very first day of the competition that past winner john wilcock from bradford set the ball rolling with a magnificent fish a ling of 26lb 8oz this was a massive target to chase but this festival has been won on the last day before.

Throughout the competition most species that swim of our coast were brought to the scales this year only two fish over 20lb were caught in the competition the closest came with a ling caught by john dove from wigton on day 12 a ling weighing over 22lb caught on never can tell A lads from all over the country come to whitby to enjoy the cracking fishing whitby has to offer plus the chance of £5000 1st prize which make it all the more interesting this festival is one of biggist in the country and puts whitby on the angling map.

The wcsa has allways done it best to raise money for charity the tragic accident recently of young dale milne the association decided that the money raised from the auctioning of prizes dure in the presentation evening would be split between dale and the local RNLI station.

The total amount raised was £1000 each receiving £500 each i would like this opportunity to thank the buisness which to gave to the charity auction a very big thankyou also the association also we would like to thank the sponsors glenn stocks the president for continuing support over the years and arbuts cafe ,the whitby LVA ,whitby angling supplies who gave all catergory winners prizes plus a new sponsor this year trevor freeman who is a local plumber there is greatly appreciated.
