    Pete,

remember 1967, all those herrings we used to catch on Saltburn Pier, using "red tag" flies on trout rods.
    Herring 10oz ! saltburn pier 1967
Twaite/allis shad also saltburn pier 2006, on float, 1lb 10 oz, but seen bigger ones caught over the years.

Would float caught sea trout (whilst mackerel fishing ) 5lb 1969 again on saltburn pier remind people of other better ones caught?

Also garfish to 1 lb, again from s/burn pier late 60's, did the demise of the herring shoals lead to the lack of garfish & horse mackerel along this coast over the last 30yrs ?

Commercial overfishing is why there isnt the horse mackeral they juat aint there in the numbers anymore we got them every evening just as it came dusk on west peir when iwas a lad the mackeral would stop and they would come on in force.
2 years ago in june i saw something what really surprized me we were fishing a wreck up of boulby the feed marks round the wreck were very heavy i knew the cod would be swarming as soon as the lads dropped all the rods were into fish but what really opened my eyes was what the fish were chasing and eating to my surprize there mouths were full of small horse mackeral an inch to 2 inches long at first i thought they were coughing up sprats but when i looked it was tiny horse mackeral i was amaized.

    Glen,
I caught a flounder from the shore several years ago which was around 1lb 13oz. I'll have to dig out a trophy or club records to confirm the exact weight but will get back to you.

    Morning Fellas,

Ive been meaning to get this list up for a while, Im sure it will need amending with fish caught since the old tide books stopped being printed.
