    I have just bought a much overdue toy. Merry Fisher 695 with a Volvo Penta 15o hp inboard diesel, she measures 7m long.
    Could I get some advice on the size spare outboard I should be carrying to get me out of trouble should I have a problem with the inboard.
    I've had people tell me all sizes from 4hp up to 25hp.

    4hp way too small, wont push the boat of that size against wind and tide, boat builders would be best folk to ask as ou'll get a better more accurate guide based on the boats weight and displacement

    Not sure why you'd want an auxillary given the reliability of diesels

    personally think something 10 upover should be ok but agree with brian ask the boat builder
