Reading on another popular forum a thread about tuna,
I was wondering "have" any been caught off our stretch of coast deliberate or otherwise?
Also what other "exotics" could be lurking around?
It's just out of interest as some reports are just on the inter web!
    Cheers guys Dek

    Yep

The rod caught bonito was caught by a local lad off Hartlepool, assuming its a different fish to the one you mean, its just been ratified the other week and should be in the mags/papers this week

Thanks Brian,it's a pretty open sort of a question.
Any so called exotics or otherwise.
It seems like there might be a few different species around that just aren't targeted rather than the usual suspects.
I just find it rather interesting that's all.

    Yes it is mate cheers.
I wonder if many more have been caught and someone thought it was a mutant mackerel?
Slightly off topic on page 2 of the d+s times today a picture of a very pleased fella who had landed a 7lb lobster on a charter trip.
Don't know which boat it stated it was from Saltburn!

Give it a month and the Gare end will be full of specialist bonito fishermen, unfortunately most will have to put up with a bye - catch of mackerel.

That 7 lb Lobster was caught of Trio 111, Skippered by Dave Lumley out of Hartlepool.
That boat is a beast, the biggest and best fishing Cat I have been on, full kitchen, hot tea lovingly made by Dave, cabin seating, toilet, can fish 12 anglers down one side, or 360 degree angling all around bows to stern if you like

3d plotter plus all other usual electronics, plus a TV if you get bored .

Nice accesible deck hose with tap so you can use without hollering for the skip to turn on and off.

Side access via a" gate" so no climbing on and off, just a step from pontoon to deck .Proper litter bin, no ripped plastic bags with crap all over the deck.

And Dave delivers the goods , very rare to have a poor day. I have seen plenty of Cod to about 15 lb plus, Ling to 25 lb, Pollack to 15 lb, all within an hours sail max, usually much less.

Plus he has held his charter prices for the last 3 years.

Plenty of easy accessible cheap parking within a very short walk of the pontoon, nice clean toilets to wash in when back from a days fishing.

    No brainer !

    Roger.
