I'm on 12lb mono straight through, although I'm toying with the idea of braid
Have ago with braid iain ....its much better imo....
I use 30lb braid with a small 30" 15lb-20lb mono trace (braid would get caught on the front treble during the cast).
You've twisted my arm Dav, damn more expense :surprise:
Yeah it is like , but you can upgrade to a stronger breaking strain because of the lower diameter , which in turn means loosing no line if ure unlucky enough to hit a snag , and it lasts alot longer..........have a trawl through e bay or summit , you should pick summit up like power pro in 300 yds for 20 quid or summit from the usa.....ive tried a couple of different brands and so far im quite happiy with 20lb power pro in olive green .....cheers
Do you reckon 30lb power pro is ok Dav as I've just got 1500 yards of that
:surprise: :surprise:........defonartly.........
Happy days  cheers Davster
thats us sorted then, 30lb powerpro, 20lb vanish fluracarbon leader with a suitable crosslink on the end, & a maria chase BW red head on the end. with an X rap & a mag popper for if you get bored and want to try something different.

I bought the big magnum for catching tuna, but it might get a try out for a laugh this summer, dives to 20ft so it might troll up a pollack ?
Its quintessential you use it iain ,,,,,cheers.......
Diver- Storm jointed thunderstick
Popper- Aile magnet sandeel or green mackerel
popper- chug bug big bug,for when the water is a bit choppier or visibility is low.
Anybody had any success with the jointed thunderstick, bit difficult to source over here they seem to sell out quickly. This again is a shallow diver.Got 6 on order in various colours.
I personally think the storm jointed thunderstick has got to be up there with the best all round shallow diving plug. Had countless bass on them and have personally witnessed fish to 15lb on one.
I'll have them instock by Weds/Thurs next week, will have the following colours intially:
Metallic Silver (black back)
Metallic Silver (blue back)
Hope that helps
Might be worth keeping an eye on this site :
Cheers Glenn  Much appreciated
Slightly off topic, but for bass on the fly;
Pink & White Clouser
Chartereusse & White Clouser
TroutPoppers Surface Popper in Blue & White
Roll on summer.........
I was wondering if any of you lads, make your own fly's....why i ask is i know a lad who has had a lot of success with bass fishing a clear a bubble float trailing a small Delta eel behind, i was thinking of giving it a go this season but trying a sandeel looking type fly instead of the Delta eel, i thought it might come in useful if there is a bit of an onshore wind making it difficult to get a plug out to were you want it. If any of you lads are intrested in making a couple of sandeel eel type fly's let me know and i will gladly buy some from you..
Me too..... :cheesy:
Isn't there any suitable patterns among them big pike flys Dav??
