Runswick Bay Summer Kayak Fishing Festival 2014

    The event is being based around the

    East Barnby Outdoor Centre again, Runswick, Whitby, YO21 3SA

    Runswick Bay Summer Kayak Angling Match

    Match entry fee £20 per person

    HEAVIEST FISH MATCH

    1st = £300 Cash + Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Sonar GPS Chartplotter & Goody Bag - Total in Excess of £1000
    2nd = £200 Cash + Typhoon PS220 Drysuit + Raymarine Merchandise - Total in Excess of £600
    3rd = £150 Cash + Raymarine Clothing & Merchandise

    Based on 40 entries. 100% payout on pools money. Prizes down to 10th place.

    Prizes for Heaviest Bass
    Heaviest Flatfish

    Junior Prize = Fishing Goody Bag

    MATCH: Saturday 5th July 2014

    MATCH RULES

    1/ One prize per angler (in Heaviest Fish category)
    2/ 2 rods can be setup but only one rod can be used at any one time.
    3/ Any fish kept must be within size, any below legal/match size will not be counted
    4/ Start: 10am
    Finish: 4pm
    5/ Weighin 5pm-5.30pm at the East Barnby Outdoor Centre
    6/ Committee decision is final
    7/ Heaviest fish: No Wrasse / Mackerel allowed
    Billet: 35cm+
    Whiting: 33cm+
    Cod: 35cm+
    Bass: 41cm+
    Pollock: 35cm+
    8/ Paddle power only, no sails or towing in by boat allowed
    9/ Match boundaries: Port Mulgrave - Goldsborough (could be decreased in adverse weather)

    Match Launch / Fishing times

    Registration available at East Barnby Outdoor Centre friday Evening.
    Also registration available 9am until 9.45 am Saturday Morning
    Safety Briefing at 9.50 am
    Launch 10am - Fish until 4pm.
    Weigh In will be open from 5pm-5.30pm at the East Barnby Outdoor Centre.

    Match boundaries may be restricted & match finish early in adverse weather.

    Parking

    There is plenty of parking at the bottom of the bank (80 spaces at £5 for the day) but if car park is full then there is a secondary car park located at the top of the bank (turn right from the bank) opposite the Cliffemount Hotel. There is a path that runs from the Cliffemount Hotel back to the launch site, only a short 4-5min walk. Please do not use the residents car park.

    To avoid congestion please park in the car park and use a trolley to the slipway, anyone blocking the slipways will be disqualified.

    East Barnby is around 5 minutes from Runswick Bay, car share if at all possible.

    Raffle

    Prizes of fishing gear, kayaking gear, contributions from local businesses and lots more goodies. All in aid to raise money for the RNLI & Heroes on the Water so bring plenty of cash for raffle tickets!

    1st Wet & Wild will be supporting the event again this year, they will be setting up shop at the East Barnby Outdoor Centre throughout the weekend. As usual there will be a vast array of kayaking goodies, if you need anything bringing to the event then just give them a call.

    Camping Only: £10 per person Per Night
    Camping and food: £26 per person per night
    Dorm and food: £40 per person per night

    Meals: Friday evening meal, Saturday breakfast and packed lunch, Saturday evening meal, Sunday breakfast and packed lunch.

    BCU Kayak Angling Safety Module

    BCU Kayak Angling Safety Course - one course on both days of the event. This will be delivered by Level 5 BCU Coach Kim Bull.

    If your a kayak angler and have not attended one of these workshops yet I cannot emphasise enough at how important it is to come and complete one of these modules, you'll enjoy it, become a more efficient paddler and certainly be safer on the water.

    The objective of this module will not be to teach fishing, however, it will provide guidance to anglers in respect of boat handling, safety, self rescue, equipment storage, and safe mooring and anchoring.

    Do book soon, can I ask if your not fishing the match, maybe your just considering 'kayak fishing', then do book onto Saturday's course, all equipment including clothing and kayak can be loaned to you.

    Price is just £39 per person.

    Certificated VHF Radio Course

    Certificated VHF Radio Course running on Sunday the 6th July. This is an extended 1 day course, classroom based and is being run at the East Barnby Outdoor Centre.

    If your a kayaker, or even a boater who is using or wants to use a VHF radio while afloat do come and get yourself booked onto this workshop.

    Not only is it a legal requirement but it will also teach you how to get the most out of your device and give you confidence in using the air waves, especially if you have to make that call for assistance.

    Price is £135 per person

    There is only limited places so do book on ASAP.


    Sit On Top Fun & Skills - one course on both days of the event.

    Learn to kayak, have fun afloat with Sit-on-top kayaks they are versatile and fun, invite family and friends to book onto this fun little course. Qualified BCU Coach will take you afloat to learn paddling skills with games for a fun enjoyable time.

    The Tahe Marine Challenge

    The Runswick Kayak Angling Festival will be the first match of the Tahe Marine Challenge, fish both the Runswick Match (July 5th) and the Scarborough Match (Sept 20th) to be in with a chance to win a fantastic Tahe Marine 132 Angling Kayak
