Hi guys. I got a rod from a member on this forum in good condition. I have used it a couple of times and noticed a few cracks in the varnish on the 2nd and 3rd rod eyes (from the butt) but they are the first two eyes on the second section. If that makes sense. I think the cause may have been my leader knot so I have switched to braid.
But should I see how the braid goes with it?
Or repair it and how could it be repaired?

Doubt your leader knot has done the damage, more likely an age thing, sea water getting in or been knocked about that has caused the cracking.Take it to a decent rodbuilder or tackle shop who does rod building.Won't be expensive tho buddy :D.
