    Hi All,

Hope you've had a good year so far. My mate Chris and me are new to Whitby fishing having been out of Wilsthorpe near Brid until now. We have a motor cruiser on the main pontoon - 'Bine' (don't ask).

I know this is a big ask, but any advice on where to start our fishing adventure out of Whitby would be much appreciated. We are not looking to strip or 'commercialise' our efforts, we are just two retired blokes trying catch a few fish and enjoy ourselves.

Not looking to go miles off maybe up to 5 or 6 to start with. If anyone would like to come out with us for a complimentary trip then that would be great - just let us know.

    All the best,

    Rick and Chris

Hi Chris / Rick, well you certainly came to the right forum. The Boat and Kayak fishing archives here are immense. You will need to search and read but all the info is here for you.

If you want to know about inshore fishing on light tackle then can I suggest you start reading some of the old kayak fishing topics. Some wont hold a lot of information but some will be stuffed full of great advice. Do a forum search or use the tags listed below :

If its boat fishing then the same applies. Reading the sea otter 2 topics is useful. Rupert Drury posts some great boat fishing articles (Very elaborate stuff).

If you have any specific questions then please just shout up. In the meantime get reading :)

It may also be worth your while getting to know Dan in the tackle shop. He's a mine of information.

:) @rupert I meant your articles. You give a lot of detail. Which is good.
