    MULL OF GALLOWAY 2009

The Mull of Galloway is the most southerly point in Scotland and one of my favourite fishing spots, Me, Dav, Alan, John, and our new apprentice Lee (brocky) were joined by Al's son Martin who could only join us for a few days due to work comitments..

The weather let us hit our favourite Pollack marks on the Irish sea side of the mull, and had some cracking sport on lures and float fished mackeral, one session we landed over 130 pollack and another seen us take over 100 upto 6lb 12oz..

Great report - looks like jellyworms were the top lure?

Did the bass fall to the same lures?

Had a bit of a problem with my laptop, everytime i was writing it kept going to the top of my post so i couldn't see what i was writing, so had to keep scrolling down so had to cut the post short...

    Some more pics..

This conger had a fine pair of nasher's....  [IMG]

We also caught a few other species.

    Lee with his first dogfish....

We done a bit of wrasse bashing on light gear and worm baits, we had a little comp to see who could catch the smallest i think Dav won with this lovelly little ballan..

We caught this lovelly little wrasse i dont think it was a ballan and certainly not a cukoo wrasse as i have caught them before, it was like a ballan with a tiny mouth could it be a corkwing wrasse??

the small hooks came out to target these micro wrasse..

    Another conger

Some of the fishing marks are tricky to get down, i take my hat off to Big cliff who still sets the pace even though he is nearly 66.

Lee was top bait digger providing us with fresh lug to target the wrasse..

I was chief mackerel catcher providing our conger and pollack baits..

I think its fair to say that by the end of the week we were all knacked apart from Big Cliff as i think he is half man half machine... It was breakfast, bait collecting, fishing, then home for tea, then bass gear sorted and back out again till early hours in the morning back to the cottage for a couple of cans, then bed for a few hours and the same again the next day and the next and the day after that too.......... :sleepy: :sleepy: tiring but enjoyable all the same.....

What an excellent trip you had, good to see you getting so many fish as well. You were certainly rewarded for all the effort you lads have put in.

I think the Wrasse might be a male Rock Cook...

    Neil.
