Discussion in 'Non Fishing Chat' started by Baramundi Bob, Nov 25, 2010.

  1. i didnt mean something had to be done by the students i ment the goverment, half the rioters were hippies who were there just for violence , i ment the new coalition goverment had to do something about the debt this country is in !

Why not just increase taxes then for the "Fat cat" high earners who voted them in. ?
Fully agree something has to be done for the economy of the country but if you look around the rest of Europe we are in a much better financial position than most.

  4. its truee though this country is in the biggest debt in pre war history 2 trillion pounds, thats 33,000 for every man women and child and 1 pound in every 4 is borrowed, the torys and libdems should be congratulated on acctually taking tough decisions, whilst labour took away the policing of the banks and now look were we are at, facts are facts spending at the current rate carnt be substained even if the students and you or i dont like it, its not feesable to do so.

if spending and borrowing doesnt get under control we will end up like ireland, greece, portugal is on the brink of calling in the IMF , we could be next if borrowing isnt tackled.

tough decisions have to be made and we have a goverment not scared to make them.

so I take it your not claiming seafarer's now then, everybody looks at it from there own selfish point of view, including me I might add, face facts Blair & Brown simply proved that George Orwell was a smart guy & as soon as the pigs move into the farmhouse they change there point of view. we have 37 year old alleged students that have never done a days work demanding the rest of us pay for there cushy life. MY question for all those who want to turn us into a socialist republic is just when exactly do we stop borrowing to pay for wasters to do sod all. We do need a revolution, but its the actual workers that should be revolting against paying for all the hangers on.

I failed my 11+ got sod all out of the education after 15 & have never claimed a penny from the goverment. even in these hard times there is still work for anyone who wants it. I strongly object to my taxes going to these thugs & am equally pissed with paying for pensions to civil servents after Brown ripped the SH*t out of my pension fund.

Bit of a personal question Dave and is it any of your business to ask really ?

As you have asked I do not mind telling you. For the record I have claimed it once in the last 7 years how many years did you succesfully claim ???? Your condemnation smells slightly Hypocritical to me. I also am in the higher earning Tax bracket as you know, so if I am prepared to pay more tax to help the country why shouldnt others ?

As for the pensions didnt that start back in the eighties with tory intervention ??? I know mine was decimated back then when I was at the steel works.

Cannot agree that "All students are spongers" either.
I have had 2 daughters achieve Degrees and both have had great difficulty achieving employment in their chosen careers, one has even had to accept employment overseas.
Please do not condemn all students with the same brush.
Just how many 37 year old students do we have ?
I do agree fully however that we need a revolution and the country is in a mess. Cannot condone violence in any way, shape or form though. Totally unnecessary, unwanted and unneeded.

Same rioters will be out chaseing the hounds at Xmas and the police will be there to calm them all down even though the hunting with hounds is banned.
Never now this lot in goverment might rush it through parliment and reverse the law.
Saw they were haveing a riot with the speaker in the houses of parliment the other day.
I predict that speaker wont be in a job much longer.

Just on the student fees issue.....i'm currently a student and i reckon i've done it the right way. My employers are paying. Woohoo!!!
However, i am in debt from my previous degree and it is being paid back to the tune of £75 a month coming straight out my wages. I started with a quite frightening sudent debt of £12k, which is now down to £8k. Trust me, the government make a profit on this debt, they know what they are doing! If this debt had been closer to £40k, i'm not sure how i would feel. It's a massive burden, linked to wage increases which certainly dampens any salary increase you do get.

Well said Foo, it was anarchy simple as that.

The attack on prince Charles vehicle was disgusting,
The people concerned in it should be thrown in prison and the keys thrown away.

We are in this financial mess because of Labour Governments spending simple as that, the new Government are trying to sort it out, its not going to be easy but nothing is.

Those students should have had water cannons turned on them if you can call them students, thugs more like.

Yet again the Police are blamed for being overhanded, having seen the footage and having been in riot situations I thought they were very restrained.

Other Countries would have shot the protesters

Most people would still be getting £2 an hour if the Sleezy Tories hadnt been kicked out.
The Tory millionares dont like the poor. They even get the police to beat the poor and next they cut the emergency services.
I am waiting to see Cameron and Clegg blame Gordon Brown for sending the North winds and its snow down South and causing the streets of the capital to grind to a halt.
They wanted the job why dont they just get on with it and stop blameing Labour.

  11. cause its labours fault, they ran the country and look at the mess they left it in !

and plenty of millionaires in the labour party, look at mandelson how that guy ever got back into be a mp let alone a cabinet minister is a disgrace, he a conn man and the biggest liar in the history of Politics, labour is same as allways boom...........bust, only this time its realy left us bust " 2 TRILLION" bust.

the torys and libdems are getting on with it, and there haviing to make tough decisions because the state labour left the country in.

its all a conspiracy to make you believe that times are hard.

times are not hard if you look at the capital wasted on things like sport decisions. if government want something they go for it. while we would think twice before rushing in to buy something government go at it conciously using capital flippantly.

don't feel guilty to take what is rightly yours- pension/wealfare benefits if necessary. and good for the demonstrators england and the english should take up the cause, good old france and the french certainly do.

  13. its not a conspiracy the goverment finances are freely availiable for public to read.

facts are facts this country is in debt to the tune of 2 trillion quid , and thats 33,000 for you me every 1 living in the uk.

at the height of labours goverment this country was borrowing 240 million quid a day.

if u watched the news the banks had to be bailed out before they collapsed, thats no conspiracy thats facts.

this country has a huge financial debt which will affect generations to come , i say good on the coalition for doing something about it unlike labour who just spent spent spent, if you have a home mortgage and bills to pay and your strugling u have to find ways to cut down those bills, thats what the goverment faces but on a massive scale.

I still dont get this idea that the global economic downturn was Labours fault. This problem exists in countries right across europe and even the world where every major economy except China's is in recession. Its more to do with failure of capitalism than any individual government.

As for the Riots. I predict more and far worse to come. Thatcher admitted in her memoirs that she was considering turning the army on our people back in the 80's. Next year could see riots in every major city across England when the public sector cuts take hold.

Well as we can all read this thread has got plenty of meat to it. From my personnel view I think the mess this country is in will be sorted out less painfully if people stopped blaming whichever political party they choose too and just accept the situation and deal with it.
As we are all aware the government coffers are empty except for very large IOU notes.
As for these retards causing untold damage in the capital and other cities they should be loaded into planes and dumped naked on an uninhabited hebridean island and left to their own devices as they are of no use to a society that needs to embrace change to get to a brighter future which will be a long way in the future no matter who is voted into power.
If you think CON/LIB or LABOUR governments are crap at the job just imagine how much deeper the shit would be if the BNP had got in to power!

Totally agree 100% apart from the Twatcher statement. Depending which political party you wish to believe I remember watching a documentary a while ago that proved Twatcher imported squaddies and Met. Police officers on a two fold basis. Firstly undercover squaddies were sent into the picket lines to instigate trouble with the police. Secondly the Met. police were actively encouraged to take a very heavy hand in attacking and repressing the picketers.
To me that was the year I made the decision to never support a Tory policy again in my life and enforced the impression I already had that the Southern Tories believe the rest of the country are second class and should simply do as they are told.
