Sometime around December I, like many other sea anglers,purchase a tide book for the forthcoming year. My initial task on sifting through the months is to highlight the big spring tides with a day glow marker pen; anything above 5.5m on Scarborough tables. These tides give rock anglers a chance to reach outlying scars and the dense kelp filled holes at low tide that predominate on the Yorkshire coast line, and therefore the prospect of at least of some reasonable fishing.
