Having heard rumours of massive bags of cod coming out of sandsend over the last 2 nights myself and Mike launched at the slipway about 6pm.

We hit the hard ground and were into cod after cod after cod. Given the amount of cod we have had lately, that soon got boring so we decided to give it a try for some pollack on the plugs.

We tried inside at Goldsborough and wern't disappointed as we both had our first pollack on a plug in 2013. After a couple of hours trolling I had managed 5 pollack on a green Yo Zuri Crystal minnow. Nothing massive but the biggest going a respectable 3 - 4 pounds by the looks of it.

No sign of any bass yet but they surely cant be far away now ??

My total for the night :

More cod than you could shake a stick at, 5 pollack, 2 coalfish, lots of mackerel and a bonus ling.

Stunning photos Glenn. Nice to see the fishing is now here with a bang. It should only get better and better from now on.

Glenn the bass are there but I think we can't compete with the millions of bait fish that they are obviously having a free for all on. I recon this bit of a sea breeze now might change things for you in the next couple of nights. I'm off out early morning to look for some movement and get my 3rd bass this seaso . I'll post if I get anything.

Lets hope the big ones are there as soon as the weather settles again. I forgot just how much even a small one can fight, my best last night had the rod right in the water twice. Like a stem train coming through.

Most lads use the jellyworms, but the Whitby Bass Club are on the plugs. The old Yo Zuri does the trick :)
