Not mucm response on this one up to now ,Well my vote is first the main gull ,down then up two, me and Garry wupped some big ass know it all one night ,he blanked me and Garry cleaned up, then sharks tooth, i have had one or two decent fish there, but i have witnessed a few doubles there as well, kettleness fingers is number three,it throws out some canny fish in the right conditions ,and is excelent for good quality Kelpies in the summer to fresh crab, along with big wrasse,

    THE DOLPHIN Rockling

That pic is where we use to go winkling I was about 19 at the time and always fancied fishing that hole mind it was full of kelp at the time but looked very fishy. sorry cant vote as I never got round to fishing down there. I could do with some advice how to get down there do you go through some Hollie bushes on the way down. Chris

Well I like quite a few of the areas down there. I love Big rock and have had my best bags off there when pleasure fishing. Up untill a coup[le of years ago I hated sharks tooth and had never had a single fish out in about 10 attempts. Then I managed half a dozen in a club match :

I have never caught a single fish from the bottom of the goat track although I have witnessed some nice catches and some doubles from there. I like Pennock nab on a large ebb tide on very calm nights, I think its the closest we get to proper kelp fishing like they have around Scarborough and Bempton.

Ive tried the boilers a few times and never done well although I know of a few doubles from there including 1 by Ramrod on his first ever trip there. Ive never had anything from around stinking hole/spenners, but have rarely tried.

Ive had a few out of the main gulley and personally witnessed some excellent bags and a couple of big doubles. One of my personal fave marks in the area is at Little Tunnel but you really ahve to know the best tides and conditions to get the best from it.

Fillet tail Ive never mastered but I know when it fishes and the right conditions through watching other lads in Whitby club who know it well.

Best cod I know of in the whole area was a 19 pounder. I think a couple of club records have been broken in the area too.

Nice bag of fish there Glenn, two of those fish look to be a canny size  Like I say I've never shore fished it for cod (though have done several times for Bass) but if I can get myself a rough ground setup before next winter it is somewhere I'd like to try (not a big fan of crowded places).

Wouldn't say no to a bag of fish like that, not sure if I'd want to carry them back up the path like :embarrass:

Funny how the adrenaline kicks in when you have to make the weigh in Sam. I past people who had blanked. Spare a thought for the lad who managed 40lb down there.

I may have a run down there chris some time ,it is one hell of a longish walk and the get down at the bottom can be a swine if its wet, you will need your inhaler for deffinate.

I've only fished the bottom of the goat track which is a bit of a stroll so was wondering where you get down from the top? A few lads have said its a killer but l don't mind a climb just don't know how to get there....

Brilliant stuff! Thanks for identifying the different marks. It sometimes frustrates me when people fish an area like this but refer to a specific mark with a name that means nothing to me. If I was to ever venture down there at least now I would be able to accurately report where I was. More for the other marks pleeeeeeease. :hungry: :hungry: :hungry:
