Havent been off for a couple of weeks with this crap weather which is a record by the way for august never known it in but sunday was a go a but i told the lads a big swell was running but they were all up for it fishing wasnt easy but everybody worked hard and rewards were very good stacks of mackeral out there for bait so some good lings were allways on the cards.
The best cod of the day came on a full squid a belting fish it was into double figures but with the swell it very difficult to get a true weight of the fish but all the same a cracker.

    Some nice pollock as well.

The ling were coming steady but it was later in the afternoon as the tide eased i decided to hit a spot i knew there would be some better lings and sure enough it wasnt long before they were coming aboard the first was boucing on the scale between 16-19lb with the swell a personal best and one very happy chappy his buddy stood next to him who had only been boat fishing once before was in for a nice surprize next drift.

A belting ling for this local lad not quite sure of the correct weight but it went 16-19lb on the boucing scale with the big swell but as you can see a really nice fish.

This man 2 nd time on a boat also got his persoanal best ling great stuff this was around the 14-15lb mark.

Yes a real eclectic catch of fish today in the jowly rolling swell. Two of us fishing managed to capture Mackerel, Ling, Gurnard, Pollack, Whiting, Plaice, Cod, Haddock & Sea Bream. Oh & a close visit from a Minke Whale!
Shads did not seem to work for us today, baited Hookies seamed to do it though.

Plenty of plaice glen off newholm beck not many offshore on the boats but blegs which are sometimes mistaken as bream as many as you want at times.

Yes ben blegs which actually look very similar to bream but they are actually pouting they are actually a member of the cod family which they do look very much the same as bream thats why many angler do get confused but do look like they are from the same family now black bream are a very well sought after fish and are targetted by many angling boats.
