Fingers crossed you get a few today Bri, just heading off to work again right now in Durham, big meeting today ( Durham Miners Gala) so might be a few road closures right where we need to be

Bigger the tide, the better the fishing is when shadding

    late post/reply

got away ok, water clarity not as good as last week (to-morrow maybe)

shads ravaged by mops, managed to keep 8 to 6lb, no biggies about.

tried usual rhubarb custard, orange "goldfish" but better keepers took

old "jack pike" type rubbers as used on river, strange.

mobbed by red cat turd, yellow porcupine party boat, tubs likened it

to a 70,s party fare, grapefruit with cocktail stick pineapples.
not comfortable fishing for them by the look of it.

plenty of big billet on stop for mackerel, good day out.

Bucket a day last week on afternoon tides.

Riverside always for me if I fancy spinning, pilot cutter jetty up to fence.

    Re seals:

Was not going next morning after trip out, chucking frames etc at high tide mark early

Morning seal was taking them as I threw them out.

    Everywhere abundant with them.

Fished Skinny in the SIB last wednesday. Had about seven kelpie codling and a couple of nice pollock around three lb mark. The biggest i hooked escaped after taking plenty of line off the reel. Got to say, the mackerel are very small in numbers this year. or i was just unlucky.

Decided to go with a friend to cowbar, as we might get to see the mackerel in the harbour.
lovely evening caught a couple for tea, I think the seal put paid to the idea of mackerel in the harbour as all the activty seemed to under the cliffs with bait fish jumping out of the water. We did think we spotted a seatrout leaping maybe?? further in the harbour? A refreshing beverage in the crab and lobster and then home . A very nice evening although a lot more people fishing than I would have thought.

Nice to see someone trying different venue for mackerel

Used to get them on big tides on port doc jetty in 70,s on float.

Then back to the old ship for a pint after crawl back up cliff.

Think its a tea shop now

    Re seatrout jumping,

Low water this morning seals gorging on them in lake hole at marske,

    Plenty leaping along to dowzel.

Recent fresh must be reason for them showing.

More mackerel n scads for pot bait, need a rest ,run out under cliffs for Pollock

    In the morning.

End of mackerel sessions for now.
