Well here it is our report from the north,Friday morning arrived and i was chomping at the bit to get going ,
Dale , Russell , and Tony arrived at 6-45am and my gear was loaded into the all ready stuffed car :embarrass:,

have you got everything this time Harry, yes double checked and treble checked, :embarrass:
so it was talk of things to come on our way north,

Tony and Dale had come with me last year and it was a grueller with the weather, but they enjoyed it , this time the weather looked spot on so the talk was where are we going to try first Harry, they were like kids at christmas , first stop was the bacon butty stall on the border at Berwick, [IMG]

Belly,s satisfied it was none stop to Arbroath, Dale had booked the cottage on the internet,
we got a pleasant supprise at the standard of the cottage it was a beauty,
plenty of storage for our bait and tackle ,and our fishing clothes ,

    my appartment [IMG]

on suite and telly this is called the bothy and it was all mine , well i am the oldest of the crew, and the lads shared this space ,

after unpacking it was off to fish,
i decided Rumness was to be the first venue, and it didn't let us down, well apart from me ,
i was struggling to get to grips with my long rod and braid , i pulled through most of my bites instead of letting them develop, so lesson learned there,

first into a fish was russell,[IMG]
then Dale had a better one ,
then it was tony's turn and this time it put up a better scap through the kelp,
it was pretty busy all through the session once the tide started to move another for russell
then came a fish of a much better stamp ,\Russell was calling ,this feels like a beauty and after a tussell through the kelp out came a beautiful red cod of 8lb 8oz a new pb for him , i was well pleased for the lads after regaling them with many stories of my past trips with Garry and Alan,

he was like a kid at Christmas and we were all excited for him ,
after a few more mops and the odd pollack and wrasse i finaly got a fish myself ,
not a biggy but i was pleased to be off the mark,
this is a better photo of Russell and his pb[IMG]
more cod for russell , the lad was on fire this day [IMG]
At this point i must say a big thank you to Dale , as you may know i was suffering with terrible sciatica before the trip and during it , He carried my rucksack to the marks each day ,friday and saturday i nwas in agony , :wounded:
well after a few more cod and wrasse the day came to an end ,so it was a long climb back up the cliff and a 30 min walk back to the car,we had got off to a pretty good start and the walkl back is allways easier when you have had a good day, now for a chill out and talk of the next days venue ,

next day started and Tony had cooked breakfast,

at first i was at a bit of a quandrie as where to start after talking to myself for a while i opted for Ethie Haven, a beautiful small harbour village ,
we fished off the small wall for an hour half way into the ebb but nothing , so it was down onto the scars to the right of the village,

once again Russel was first into a fish ,
    followed by Tony ,[IMG]
    then Dale [IMG]
    then myself [IMG]
this went on for about three hours to the bottom of the tide with fish comint to the rod quite steady, i will point out at this stage 85% of our catch was returned to fight another day ,
some were to deeply hooked to go back , but if you feel like taking your fish then do so by all means ,

next mark was the cliff top for an hour untill the tide had flooded a bit more for our final mark of the day ,[IMG]

then it was off to the five yard shot ,(well my five yard shot i got it wrong last year :embarrass:)
    first fish a bloomin pollymog,[IMG]
    then a tiddler,[IMG]

then a trebble , one rockling and two bits
then it started to pick up with a bit more tide [IMG]
    and another ,[IMG]
    again, [IMG]

    the gang ,[IMG]

after a hectic day once again , it was back to base and of course it was my speciality ,the beef lassagne [IMG]

chill out time again a few beers and bed my back was in bits , but one more day to go ,
next day we awoke to a bit of a blustery wind and i was not to sure where to try ,in the end we went back to the five yard sht , but this time 100 yds further up the gully ,

we had left it a bit late after a sleep in , and the tide was allmost at it,s peak and not to big as well we had a dabble for about two houra and were rewarded with a few fish ,
    the recovery pool,[IMG]

then it was off to boddin for the rest of the ebb when we got there we had a head on wind , not to strong more of a nuisance ,we ahd a few small bits the anchors,
then Dale had a walk down the scar at the back of the old ruin(the clay store Alan )

thats what i told Tony  ,

he had a fish of about 3lb-8oz but he didnt have his camera ,
we stuck it out untill allmost low and decided to try Aucmithie ,
we would fish a couple of hours up at ratchet rock,
when we arrived there was a local match just finishing , the news was not good very few fish had been caught , but we were there so had a try,
it was to no avail the fish just wern,t biting i was ready to call it a day but the youngsters were still enthusiastic and wanted more :wounded: so Russel wanted to try ethie again , well we gave it another go but for very little one of 3lb12oz and one just size , and a coalie ,so it was back to base for ten thirty and i was f***ed to say the least , but what a trip we had , i was especialy pleased for Russell on his first trip up there with me ,and getting a pb, and for Tony and Dale who after last year saw what can be caught if you work at it , as for me well a little dissapointing with around 15 fish in total , alltogether we had about 60 fish to the scales and some happy memories to take home , i have many more photo,s but it is hard to put them all up ,

OH as a post script i forgat my leads, and the sauce mixes for my lassagne , Dale got electricuted through his B*ll,s on the cliff top fence   , and Tony put some rind on a hook off his ham shank and caught a cod :surprise:,
hope you all enjoyed the report and tight lines untill my next venture north ,
