1 Bait only?????

    BOOMSTICK Whitby Fishing Forum _ Simply The Best

    If you were only aloud 1 bait for sea fishing what would it be and why?????

    id go for lug worm as prety much all fish go for it, its available all year round and freezes down well.

    It would have to be mackerel for me mate as I am mainly a summer fisherman and them rays love it

    howdo, i go for green crab, get as many as you need in the summer, ther also freeze well, good for loads of speices, flounders in the summer, kelpeys , winter cod etc

    Port Mulgrave very late season (when most people stop going) - White Ragworm
    Robin Hoods BAy late season - Black Lug

    To be honest if I could have only one bait Id get a dog to walk.

    Peeler Crab (green) without any hesitation.
    (Second would be more crab!!)

    Bait choice depends upon the species you're after, the venues you fish, and the time of year. For me, fishing in the North East mainly over kelp and hard ground then crab takes some beating both in summer and winter.

    frozen blacks for me.never failed me yet..but thats only because i dont do much bait fishing.i do however intend to gear up better and get more into that side of things,as im missing out on at least 5 months fishing waiting for the bass/pollack/mackeral to return!

    proven time after time, fresh, scaned & bait elastic bound frozen on straws for easiness.

    Squid. Catches fish summer and winter. I would say crab,but I'm to lazy to get my own:)

    Cart n mussel done fairly well on the brigg for me this summer .

    Fresh yellow tails if I had just one bait, had fish on rock, off high cliffs , beaches and the River Humber ...whereas crab and cart is often ignored on the beaches and river.....so one bait only for me would be nice plump yellowtails.

    Not many tide fish would pass up on a fresh black or yellowtail :)
