To be honest Glenn, the least i can. If i'm spinning then along with spinners/rapalas, go a spare reel, bits like swivels and plenty of grub etc.  If i'm on the fly then a spare reel, but to be honest the rest of the stuff goes in the waistcoat, such as leader stuff, fly boxes and the old priest.  Quite often i try and leave the bag in the car to save from carrying it-the lighter the better.

I tend to travel as light as possible too- leaving my main bag in the car with the exception of very cold days (can't live without the flask) and days where its so busy leaving a good pool would be a bad idea. But here goes!

Spinning Kit:
Spare spool for reel loaded with same line for quick changeover should a tangle occur.
Priest
Mini first aid kit (Simply plasters, wipes and a hook removal tool)
Lure box containing: Swivels, Mepps Aglia Longue size 1-3 in gold, silver and copper, Mepps Comet Decoree in gold with red dots (deadly) small Tobies, Flying C's in black & silver, orange and gold, orange and silver and fluorescent yellow and gold alongside a selection of custom made spinners.
Forceps.
Pliers.
Bass bag.

Fly fishing: I slimmed this down last year and found that 5 boxes of flies simply wasn't needed.

1 Box doubles size 8-12
1 box of larger flies such as tubes, snakes, wake lures.
Various spools of leader from 8-14lb
Floating line
Intermediate line
Sinking poly-tips
Priest
Bass bag.
Forceps.

The only other thing I carry is a landing net.

This is pretty much most of my Pike/Perch lure selection, I'll be adding more no doubt plus I have my growing Bass lures selection to think about  wink Worst bit is I probably only us about a dozen of them on a regular basis!  cry

If I'm fishing a venue where by I might need to take a good selection then I usually leave a box or two in the car, for example use deep divers in the morning then maybe concentrate on surfaces lures in the afternoon. If I can though I much prefer to have lures to covers all aspects with me on the bank but they can get quite heavy after a while!

I know one thing though, when I get a yak I won't be able to take that lot with me  cry

When fly fishing though I carry everything in my waistcoat, landing net is clipped on the back so I only have to carry the rod. Such a nice way to fish  yes

Sam, you dont want to blank with something shiny and pretty, just make sure she's sat on your knee. Seriously though, looking at your lures, at least me and Ian (Bucko) know where to go went we want to scrounge some.

Your'e right though, if you are gonna blank, do it in style.

Take care

It is getting very near the time ( salmon season) to have a rumage through the tackle bags and have a good clear out of all those old bits of line that you chucked into the bag when tackling up in a morning. Paint the old and faded mepps, straighten those hooks. Load your reels with new line. Then get excited that the time is soon upon us to try and capture that bar of silver.

What item's do you carry in your fishing bag,I've now given up carry'in a bag when i go down to river,All i take is two spinner boxes,One filled with various colour size two mepps(silver - copper - gold blades).
The other with size 1's for shallower water and for when you have been through a run but know there's a fish laying in it - try it with a smaller mepps "BANG" yes
Fly fishing i'll take :-1 box of fly's -sm black spiders - march brown - black surface fly's. spare leader in various strenghts to make up new leaders, leader sinker fluid, snipp's.and thats about it.I just hate to carry a load of stuff call me lazy ,but i am. wink

Eh up Dan.spinners for sea trout,u can't go wrong with the trusted mepps in sizes 1 &2,if waters up and running fast go up to a 3 just to get it down a bit further than a 2 would.
As for fly's anything that resembles a small fish or the following - teal blue and silver, blood butcher & silver butcher, medicine fly's in various sizes plus the black pennel takes fish.
