I really like Perch and Tench but I have to say my favourite is the humble Crucian Carp!

Sorry lads i've got to be a bit controversial with regards to Grayling. Apparently, they are classed as a coarse fish, but i think its snobbery to be honest because Grayling have an adipose fin, which to me says its a game fish. Also, how many coarse fish are fished for with the fly as much as Grayling are?
Anyway back to the topic. I always had respect for the old  Perch and the remarkable Eel back in my coarse days, even though, i used to fish for Tench most of the time-also Crucians
To pick a favourite coarse fish is hard, but i've always fancied going fishing for Eels, while i've lost intersest in the others so i'll go for the Eel as my favourite coarse fish. Anyone else like fishing for Eels?.
Back to Grayling. Coarse or game? Never mind, they take the fly readilly, and thats good enough for me.

Which lakes are they matey? (Drop me a pm if you prefer not to mention it on the forum)

I'll be back out lure fishing for Pike once they have finished spawning, probably early May.

Cheers,
Sam

My favourite coarse fish is carp as its the only coarse fish ive caught!

Caught it the first time i went carp fishing last winter, only  been twice.

It was a 4lb mirror , got it on corn and i was buzzing like mad when i caught it  only fish the four of us had all day.

Went like a rocket :surprise: Caught it at renny lakes(i Think)

My fave freshwater fish is the humble brown trout, had them up to 1 1/2 lb in danby beck and had one of 5lb at lockwood.

the lake i fish are the ones at Wykeham. The main pike lake can be hard going . Even harder when they stocked trout into the lake to feed the pike.

Aye, thought it would be Wykeham. I like fishing there but as you say it can be hard going, would be boring if it was easy though

I'm the same with lures on the Tees Dav, but dead baits are killers. Bassy woods is a good under fished venue which has plenty of big Pike.

The only place ive done extremly well on lures on the tees system davo ,  which isnt actually classed as the tees but the river leven i had pike to  16lbs and perch to 3lb from there , absoloutly great fun , i use to be there all the time till early hres catching pike on surface lures,,,,good old days ....its only 10 mins from were i live , shame its all changed now tho, my best perch swim was the next pool down from the big pool , but like i say , there is no chance to get on there now , which is a real shame .....a couple of years ago me mate got a dory , we use to launch it in a the barrage and fly upto the leven and slowly make our way up there flicking size 3 fat raps and countdowns , and even trolling which suprised me by getting some quality perch upto almost 2lb ......cheers
