Sea Fish That Head Upriver......

There are a number of salt water fish that have a massive tolerance of freshwater and some that migrate.
I've seen little flatties above the weir at Ruswarp before but noticed that shad were caught quite a few times at venues such as Bridlington and Roker Pier last year. I believe that they run upriver to spawn so has anyone any experience of catching these in the fresh? Also some of the places I've fished in Wales have bass coming upstream to feed right up to the end of the tidal influence.

Ian , i used to catch flatties in the River Leven. Not sure if they are there now due to the Barrage, but i'm sure some will get through the boat lochs
