ANGLERS enjoyed tremendous fishing once the floods abated on the rivers.

The Swale, Ure, and upper and lower Tees fished perfectly last weekend, especially the Swale for the 204 peg River Swale Preservation Society Annual Team Masters.

Chub fed on a near perfect river but old Jack Frost had to put in a very unwelcome presence.

Dave Smiddy (Yarm Flyyn’s) is no stranger at winning big events over the past three decades.

By employing stick float and maggot from his peg above Skipton Bridge, he connected with cracking chub and lost a big barbel but his winning weight of 53lb 11oz was enough to lift the title and to warm up the scalesman.

Craig Melling of Eccleshill used anchored maggot at Baldersby to put together a good net of chub for 34lb 15oz.
