Well the new trout season is almost upon us, and i'm bloody working on the 22nd and 23rd. Ah well, i hope the day is blessed with good weather for all you anglers who will be out trying for trout or two.

Don't know why but I thought the new season starts on the 25th

You might be right Sam, for some reason i've got the 22nd in me head. Anyway, lets hope its a good start to the season.

Anyone wanting casting tuition, i do one hour for a Kit Kat, half hour for a small Kit Kat or two hours for a Mars Bar.

What sort of casting tution can you offer people. Is it just an over head cast or are we talking spey casting as well.

I started my season the weekend before in Eskdale, Cumbria. Walked up to 'Eel Tarn' with a brown trout Rapala and some small red and silver spinners. One knock in 2 hours.
Nice scenery though.
I did notice one hardy soul at Scaling when I went past on Saturday at about 5pm!

Only five days left until we can get a throw on the Esk for the springer. Hope it warms a little otherwise it will be hard work.
With having plenty of rises just recently it may have encouraged a few whether it be salmon or sea trout to enter the river. I would guess that there are quite a few kelts still hanging around too.

Hmm just looked at the forecast- I reckon its a case of keeping the sea rods out another week and going flattie/billet/whatever fishing.

Hello Bucko , Thanks for the mention on STF , i have been visiting the Tees Barrage since 2002 and have seen some big flatfish and some big ells being ate by the cormerants and seals. I Have seen whiting caught by the seagulls that i would of been happy to catch of the piers.I am new to the internet but this site looks very good ,also with me fishing in this area.I last fished the ESK at Glazedale in the 70s and i saw hundreds of salmon dying with what i know now as UDN.<i was still at school then>,I saw the art of snatching at Staithes where they were filling blue fertilser bags with salmon which were longer than the blue bags when i got my car. I see lots of anglers fishing for Migratory fish below the Tees Barrage ,why dont more Sea Anglers fish around the Barrage.I asked in 2002 when i saw lots of big salmon ,and the EA AGENCY said anyperson can fish from the concrete bollards down to the sea but to fish for migratory fish you need the licence.I fished the next day and after 3 casts i was joined by MR. SEAL who showed me how to catch a 20lb salmon and eat it raw. We are still friends and i have got to know his wife and children who seem to enjoy living in the BORO .<Lochbois>
