Very nice Carp there Jellyworm, the bottom is spot on. Were they from up north or did you travel a bit for them?

All those fish were from Yorkshire venues... two from a Hull and district aa water "windmill pond" at New Holland near the Humber banks, the other was from Raker lakes near York....have got some others upto 28lb 3 oz and another six over 25 lb from Hull and Districts Brandesburton complex near Hull.
All old stocked fish from a natural gravel pit.....a lot of hard work over three years learning the water then had a cracking year catching all the big fish in the particular lake apart from a big common (26lb) which eluded me.
Not massive fish compared to some waters now but all on my doorstep and from relatively "hard" waters.

Cheers jellyworm.

28lb+ fish from up north is very good, I haven't done any proper Carp fishing for quite a while now  Biggest UK Carp I've had is 28lb 8oz from a North Yorkshire brick pit back in 1999, been to France once and had fish up to 51lb 14oz which was nice. Really fancy a weekend's Carpin now

Some beauties there.
I've only ever caught them to about 4lb and haven't fished for carp for about 10 years.
They don't half go when you hook them though.

Found a couple more pics and scanned them so quality a bit down.
They were two of four fish catch over-night from the same spot where the x is in the lake shot. The biggest is just over 26lb , the common was 19lb. The lake is Hull and Distirct A.A. Brandesburton 3+4 pond.
The lake was my home for that year spending at least 4 days a week there, that swim being the most productive, the fish were always tight to the bush near the x, which was the entrance to a small bay of overhanging bushes and the cast was about 80-90 yards and had to be very accurate to avoid the bushes. Then it was a walk round and spray a few pouches of CSL pellets and a handfull of broken up boilies. The bait was my own mix, comprising manily bird seeds ground up then fish meal, ground trout pellet, ground betain pellet, salmon oil, cream cajouser and active8liquid, rolled into 10mm for loose feed. Then the hook baits were usually a 15mm same mix but soaked boilie and a bright yellow 10mm pop up fished snow man rig on a size 8 nailer tied simple peeled inch of mantis with a swan shot at the stiff part of the link so the bait was balanced. Pva foam nuggets helped with avoiding the debris on the bOttom. Then it was a case of waiting til feeding spells, there were two on that lake......usually one at midnight til about 2 am and then again around 10 am to about 12 ish......fed like clock work the carp there.
