Thanks for your advice Lochbois, but to be honest, i wouldnt dare try modifying it myself. I'm a coward when it comes to DIY, just ask our lass.

dave m8, - have small hands i (for a bloke, and yes i can hear the laughter) but all joking aside this causes many discomfort problems for me personally with the diametre of fishing rod butts -particularly those of trout fly rods,
however the cork handle fitted to most fly rods is usually at what can be considered maximum size/diametre so therefore offers plenty of latitude for reduction and is in fact very easy to 'whittle'/sand down to suitable diametre to suit it's users desired diametre / profile -i have two brook rods that are reduced to just 1" daimetre (at the narrowest points) whilst retaining a full 'scroll' profile
