Meat and pellet are working well at Woodlands illustrated brilliantly by venue expert Daryll Taylor of Daiwa who put together the best net of the year so far containing quality carp to 12lb and weighing in a marvellous 135lb 6oz during the 41 peg match last Wednesday.

Fishing the pole fairly close in, Taylor switched between meat and pellet from peg 16 on the Skylark Lake.

Runner-up Les Bolton of Woodlands Tackle also used pellet for another back-breaking weight of 103lb 12oz, while John Maddison of Browning Quaker fished exactly the same for his 103lb 6oz bag.

Switching to the Oaks for the 31 peg match last Saturday James Dent of Daiwa Cleveland opted to fish the vogue bait, chopped worm and caster from peg three on the Cedar Lake for a mixed net containing carp, ide and barbel. He took 82lb 13oz to the scales.

John Chapman of Garbolino Elton fished identical tactics in second place for his 80lb 11oz net and Gary Jubb of Garbolino Osset took third place with 73lb 5oz.
