Cheers Mick. I fished Derwent only the once, on a horrible day for fishing or anything as a matter of fact. I didnt catch though, but i enjoyed it and will return again some day- most probably this year. Have you ever fished Leighton Reservoir Mick? If not give it a go. Its the same type of water as Derwent and the Teesdale Reservoirs  but only smaller- so get yerself down there.

Cheers Dave i have only ever fished Derwent as i am quite new to fly fishing. There is another spot which is even closer to my home and thats Knitsley Mill- 7 acres- where did that come from. I remember when there was just fields there.
Mick.
I,ll google Leighton and have a look for future referance.

Fished Derwent about 30 years ago and caught 2 12oz rainbows. does it ever do anything but rain there?!

Leighton is one of my favourites as I caught my PB rainbow there - 10lb exactly, on a dry sedge in the creek where the road bridge is. Havent been there for a few years though

Mick, ive fished Knitsley Mill once, and my mate has fished it twice. To be honest we thought it was an awful place and i wont be returning. The hype on their web site was unbelievable (i think they have changed hands now). We went into the hotel to buy a ticket, and was told to go round the back, as if we were some sort of inferior sportsmen.  We went into an old shed with busted settee's ect (like my flies), to buy our ticket and it was awful. To be honest Mick, this is how some people see us anglers, so i wont entertain the place again.
With regards to Leighton, its a lovely place to fish, and Matty get your arse back over there and beat your PB.
