Derwent angling association.

Hello lads. Thought i,d let you know my second season as a fly fisherman has begun. Joined my local fishing club for £47 annual fee. So i can fish the Derwent anytime now.
Also been up to the Derwent resevoir three times last couple of weeks.
Went today but it was very poor. Tried Black Fritz, Orange Fritz, Dawsons Olives. Caught one small Brownie.
Used power bait and worm ledgering at Pow Hill but again no luck. Think it was down to excess rain. Weather rotten.
Hope it picks up when the weather fares.

Do you mean you can fish whenever you want for a total of £47 ?

Yes but this only applys to the Derwent river. Most is open. There are also bag limits. Max two fish per day.

With regards to the River Derwent, does it hold many Salmon and Sea Trout, especially on Derwent A.C stretch?

I don,t think so. Never heard of any caught. The main river for migratory fish around here is the Wear. I work at Chester-Le-Street and have spoken to quite a few people who have seen them.
At Durham near the Milburngate bridge there is actually an electronic counting machine which counts the fish as they come upstream.
