I was thinking about the thread which mentioned carp tackle pioneering certain components and there must be a few items that have use in both the fresh and the salt.
One that came to mind was what is essentially a small 'bar' to stop carp taking the hook too deep- could be quite handy when whiting are about in numbers.
I use the Gemini Genie floating beads on sea trout flies but I reckon they'd be great for 'popping up' a worm at the likes of Scaling Dam as well.

Yes mate, I'm not really familiar with carp gear but those catalogues have a fair bit of useful looking stuff in them.
