This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

The one on the right isn't a million miles away from that Basspro Oceanmaster that you did pretty well on isn't it cps? & the one on the left looks not unlike the Storm one we dubbed "ditch digger" due to its desire to knock lumps out of the sea bead - runs 15-20ft deep I remember. Both look ok to me.....

Yeah me too i went abit over board in the plug department, mainly rapals /yo zuri ,daiwa types to many to list nice to have abit of money in the old paypal departement, good job too if i sat down and counted it all up i,de have an heartattack ,sod it ....they have even took up two trays in my plano 7771 guide lure box which i also invested in from the usa , to house all my lures spinners , for both fresh n saltwater ,,,i was sick of them been all over the place ......theres somthing about them that attracts me to em more than the fish though ,as cps and mww have stated only ever stick to old faithfulls, but yet to find a faithfull one for bass that will give me abit of confidense  ;D ;D..although i do have a couple of them u have bazza.....

as you can see in the pics dav the yozuris have had some hammer they both have bass marks on them, the red sinking one is a diamond, got it from nets and have bought a few more incase i loose them they are only cheap but cast like bullets can be retrieved relatively slowly in low light the bass love em. like you say dav theres something about lures that make you want to buy them, maybe thats why they become collectors items

So could you recommend one for fishing on a shallowish scar. Guessing at around 10 foot of water maybe a little more but shallow at the edge.

Maybe a popper ?

If anyone's interested in cheap lures, have a look in Aldi's now. They're doing a box of cheap copies for the price of one Rapala SSR 9. I couldn't say if they are any good though, although the Mepps style spinners seem ok and the hooks are better quality than the one's Lidl's did a month or so back.

The real bragain are the polarised sun specs though, which is what I went in for. They're only £3.49 and in about half a dozen styles. I tried these 'shades' over the ponds this aft' and couldn't tell the difference against my 'Optix Comorants', that were over £30-00 twenty years ago.

You'll need to be quick though, they'd already sold out of all the fishing bags and telescopic rod and reel set-ups and weren't getting anymore in.

Cheers, T

glen like dav said use the veals website they give the diving depths the only diving vained plugs i use over shallow water only dive to 60cm max and sometimes thats too deep, i prefer the shallow 30cm ones. poppers will work aswell if the fish are on the top or its flat calm. ray the jointed ones dont cast well but ive lost my biggest bass on one of these they are quite deep diving aswell but if you fish deeper water say a pier then they are really good and dont half vibrate. id imagine they would troll brilliantly ;). as ive said before the lure that has caught more bass for me than any other is an ordinary quid a go spinner, spun at speed near the top. and thats all i know ;D honest

Gonna have a look in Whitby angling. They were the cheapest place I ever saw for Rapalas so maybe they might have other lures in.

I believe you baza. One thing I might have overlooked is something the locals used to do in Essex when I was working down there is a big softy doggie on a float. Maybe Prof has some experience of this ?
