This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

I just used to take an adjustable spanner & roll of PTFE with me. Turn the stop tap off & unscrew the tap & you will find a fitting to screw into where the tap screwed out of easily. Might be three quarter BSP. Just screw the tap back in when finished.

It sounds like that if its 3/4" bsp female it will be easier to go to plumb center in whitby and get a 3/4" - 1/2" reducer
The 3/4 wants to be male and the 1/2" end wants to be female also ask for a normal garden tap and 1 roll of ptfe. Ptfe the 3/4" male end screw this in and tighten. Ptfe the tap and screw this into the new adaptor.
When using ptfe put it on so that when the item screws into the fitting it dosent "un wrap its self" if you know what I mean.
Going from 3/4" to 1/2" this close to the outlet shouldnt make any difference flow might be slightly slower but pressure will be the same.
Id pop down as I have the gear in the van bit of a trek from redcar though lol.

Just realised is this a communial tap?
the info above is point less if it is, unless everyone wants to use a standard garden tap fitting lol
Thought you had your own water supply.
Sorry

Bunny,

Just to make it a bit clearer. Yes it is a communal tap. It is only 3/4 inch BSP once the tap is removed from its fitting. The tap itself is threaded but is not BSP. It is quite large and a fairly fine thread. When I used to launch at Whitby I could never find a fitting for it so I took to removing the tap in order to access the threads I had fittings for. Then re fitting the tap with PTFE.

Got ya,
Washing machine hose have you tried that?
you will find  that are 3/4 I know that the the threads are more like bsp in them but with them being plastic they kinda cut themselves.
Used this loads of time to drain down heating systems from a rad with "belmont" valves.
Good look.

thanks for that info , ive been on loads of sites but no one let on whot to do, ive got the bits now so the next time i go with the boat im sorted. again cheers to every one . how would they like it if i kept the new tap on and took the old one off, or should i just keep removing the tap and bugger every body else, its easy for every body if the tap has thread that every one has, not just one the chandlers has got.
