Well Done To Ryan Vasey AKA Ryanfish For Winning The Whitby Fishing Club Junior Section.

Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Whitby & District Fishing Industry Training School.
« on: June 18, 2007, 08:10:39 PM »
I went on a course last week at Whitby Fishing School
It lasted 5 days and it covered
First Aid
Fire Fighting
Vessel Stability
Care of Catch
Health and safety at Sea
Sea Survival.
I got 6 certificates that anyone now needs to work at sea, The course is subsidised by the Govt at the moment But after July anyone wanting to do the course will have to shell out £600
The course was very informative and also a lot of fun.  About half of it was classroom work and half was practical experience Incorporating Fire fighting, Sea survival (In Whitby Swimming Baths) and Practicing First aid. We had to give a doll kiss of life and CPR and dress wounds etc...
The fishing school are running two more courses next Month (Which will be subsidised) The first starts 30th June (Thats sea survival) followed by the other parts of the course running from 4TH 5TH AND 6TH of July.
The final course Runs 24TH 25TH 26TH 27TH and 28TH of July I know there are places going for both courses.
I did the course as I own my own boat and I like getting ANY info/experience I can. Im now qualified to work on a trawler if I wish (Thats a Bonus)
If anyone has the time? Id recommend taking a look at this free course. take advantage of it whilst we can.
Im booked in with Whitby Fishing School to do future courses Im doing a 5 day navigation course next hopefully. I heard about these courses when I went there for my VHF operators certificate.
If anyones interested give them a bell on 01947 825871
Also they have a Website http://whitbyfishingschool.co.uk/
Look them up they do alot of other stuff besides and theyre a nice bunch of people too, the ones I met.
Paul.
