This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Today on Sea Otter 2.
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:29:50 PM »
Just returned from a great day on Sea Otter 2, a healthy supply of cod, ling, pollack, pouting and one catchfish was bagged between 8 of us.

Largest cod estimated at about 12 / 13 lb and my own best of the day at about 9lbs.

Many thanks to skipper Paul who was more than helpful, the day nicely finished off with a bit of the amber stuff in the Fleece afterwards

A nice cod caught by a fellow angler :-

Myself having caught its little brother :-

Paul with the catfish (Paul is the one in the red boiler suit)  :-

As a new resident of Whitby I guess I must have seen you on club night but not ever known who you were

Maybe there's scope for a bit of the amber stuff after the trip on the 12th ?

Yes nice fish there,

We are coming down on the 30th for the Festival, so a couple of cod like them or their big brothers or sisters would be great.

I'm not too sure which method was used to catch the largest cod but most of us were using either shads or squid bait.

Most of the fish I caught were on blue storm shads using a trace about 3ft long and I found this to be the most effective.

A review of the storm shads can be read on this link :-

Thanks for the info. I bought some blue shads after Baramundi Bob recommended them. Will put them in my kit for the trip.

Mick.
