Being an ex-saltburn / redcar lad now living in Milton Keynes but quite a frequent visitor back to the N/east, the one thing I've learned is that nothing really changes over the years.   People and places remain the same.
When I say not changed, this is probably the most informative forum at times out there, BUT can also be one of the most secretive as well.   I understand why because I was the same myself over the years.  I had a break from fishing for nigh on 15 years.  I find the discussions among the regular posters fascinating because of the banter and the info they all swap without giving too much away.  You only have to read the posts on this thread alone to appreciate just what a contribution it makes to angling.

The anglers upt north seem to me to have a better understanding of their sport than most.  Probably because of the harsh conditions you fish under.
There is a lot of knowledge on here without even realising it at times.
I come on here everyday and sometimes visit 2 or 3 times, I don't often post because I have nothing to add to the discussion because of not fishing regular.  I do really enjoy the banter, the knowledge, the time and the effort most seem to put in to making this a cracking site to visit.

It has been great for me to be able to visit the N/east, which I love, without having to leave my chair.  It has brought back a lot of old memories and times for someone who has seen better days.  I bet there are more ex-pats visit than anyone realises.

Thanks to all for that and more power to your elbow's or should I say rods?  And a special thanks to our host Glenn, cheers mate, long may you reign supreme.

Its hard to know where to start, over the last 2 years on here I have been given loads of quality advice on marks and bait. I probably visit the site 2-3 times a day during the winter months. A massive thanks to Quint who has given me masses of info and advice along with a few others. Still loads to learn. Also met some new fishing buddies.

Right in the middle of the country Paul, doesn't matter which way you go it's a 250 mile round trip to the sea.  Takes 3 hours each way because of the roads!
MK is OK but hope to move either back up north or at least a bit closer to the sea once the kids have their education sorted.

started fishing again after a 20 year break thanks to me x missus, when i started again i had a cheap rod n reel set from a local tackle shop and new very little about local marks n even less about ones further away.. ive now got a half decent rod and reel, know loads of marks, knots and other info about tackle and 99% of it is due to the folk on this site... all i can say is thanks and i hope the site and info available keeps going for many years to come and i know i still have a lot to learn.

 i have been on the forum a year now and ive really enjoyed it, good banter, a different slant on things,strong differences of opinion on some subjects, but nothing that couldnt be resolved

I work overseas on a 5 on 5 off system and what I have learned is that "home" is only a click of the internet away.As well as the information this site readily shares (if not the secret marks lol) make this the best fishing forum presently on the go.

I started sea fishing about a year ago. Prior to that I'd only been down the beach a couple of times as a kid and out on the boat once or twice. I think my enthusiasm would have been dampened somewhat after my fair share of blanks without something like this site and all the information, help and reports contributed on it.

Just general stuff about where and what tides/seas/baits to fish is gradually building up in my head... I know it's a bit cliche but like a jigsaw or something. Often I'll read something and click 'ohhh so that's why that happens' or 'ohhh that's how I could improve it next time', like another piece to the puzzle

I'm really looking forward to this winter now, I'm getting a bit obsessed with fishing actually my missus is going nuts
