This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

I have learned that there are other idiots who go out in midwinter, get piss wet through and catch nout! Good on em!

On a more serious note, I've learned loads of good stuff from the forum, just to hear different peeps views on things puts your fishing mind in motion!

It's all very well knowing how to do something, - but being able to do it is just a question of practice.

Deffo made new friends/contacts since joining the forum as I'm sure many others have and like Phil I have learnt new rigs & fishing techniques. The big thing for me was getting into kayak fishing, I probably wouldn't of even thought about fishing from a kayak if it wasn't for Quint's article. My fishing has definitely changed for the better since joining the forum

I have learned that their are fish further south than Robin Hoods Bay (Infact better fishing than up here at times) and met some really great people who have been only too willing to help me out both with fishing and anything I've asked for really. Ive had a few forum members tell me about new marks and several of the lads have even turned out to fish them with me and give a few pointers. Also was put in touch with a lad who took time to meet me at Bemmo on a club night and give me a guided tour. What more could you ask for.

I've also learned that running a forum is expensive and very time consuming.

Met some great lads and had loads of first class advice, even from people who I have not met, and I shall always be grateful for that - but also my bank balance has shrunk rapidly and is still shrinking  :surprise:

ive learnt loads from this site - my sea fishing knowledge prior to joining this site was almost non-existent. now i am no means an expert but have managed to bag a few fish and got into kayak fishing thanks to people on here.

I've also made some good friends off this site and most people on here are very friendly

"Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted"

It might be a quote, but is so apparent with the more successful anglers on here.

I've learnt to apply the methods I use on freshwater to sea fishing with Glenn & Ray's "Know the mark within the mark" theory. Its amazing what difference a small feature like a depression in the sand or even a solitary rock can make and is very similar to my recce's on salmon/sea trout pools, just on a larger scale.

I've also learnt that people aren't as secretive as you think, as long as they want you to know :tease:
