This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

tandem yak advice
« on: June 06, 2007, 12:52:39 PM »
Help...
any advice on where and how much I am likely to have to shell out for a two up fishing yak? The missus is keen to get out with me on a tandem yak but I was not sure about the possibility of a tandem yak for fishing on our coast?
What sort of outlay will I be looking at to equip such with all we will need for safe fishing?

At least she can t cast so my shore fishing escapism is still safe !!!!

I think you would probably get a better response from a wider, kayak specific forum Dave. Anglers' net and www.kayakfishing.com would be a good place to start. I dont think that there are that many Yakkers on this site just yet and certainly none with any tandem experience as far as I know. Although quite why you would want to take your lass fishing with you is beyond me  ??? ???  I cant wait to get a few hours away from mine !!

I often take my missus out on this Yak that I made myself.
We have been known to hold tea-parties on it.
I find if I take the wife with me it keeps the flies off me bait robq!

The Anglers Net link is http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?s=173d9ae73efbae61872e71ee466edff8&showforum=26  Loads of threads on there.

I don't think there much more than a single at 500 to 600 pounds, try robinhood water sports at Leeds I know they sell them - but like Rob says are you sure it's a wise move? get her a single one, unscrew the draining hole= freedom - cracking yak firefly!

What are you lot like, she s the mutts do da s our lass !! lol, good job she doesn t look at all my internet browsing (ooh err !!).

Nah she luvs her fishing, motorbikes, drinks pints and got a great pair of .......ooops sorry a great pair of carp rods i was goping to say ...lol

Well my main focus is to get the rock gear all sorted this year and next a yak.

Got my century formula 1 rod checked over by the guy who built it it, needed a ring replacing but other than a few knocks ready for action. Reel , she s promised me whatever reel i want as an early crimbo prezzy so think i ll have either a mag 535 or a slosh 20 or 30 by the end of the month, then its onto the field for a try at casting !!
Haven t swung a lead in anger in over 8 yrs !! been distance carp fishing with 3 1/2 test century xp.s but then only fishing at 120 ish yards and on level ground ! think i ll have to start thumping then off ground and maybe get a swing going by winter lol, hope i can bend that rod still or i reckon it will bite me thumb off !!
