Polite Notice

This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

Where at Sandsend Baza ? The beach or the cliffs ? Is it a scratching match ? Best person to tap for info at this time of year is lobbers. The Saltburn club often fishes beach matches in that area in summer (Or they did last year when they had their series of pegged matches)  happy

No Doubt - but he isn't getting any  whistle

It depends where you fish at Sandsend. My thoughts are that the closer you get to upgang the more chance you have with flounders especially on the flooding tide. Remember to try very short cast for flounder - about 10 yards will be more than enough.

Hi Lads,

Yes it is a three way competition between Cleveland Police's finest lol

and Tackle Box and Hartlepool Pirates.

Each club chooses a venue for their match.

We are keeping a £1 back from each entry towards a trophy for the winning team at the end of the three matches.

If Succesful this will be a Annual event, that is every year for some of you lol.

Beat of luck everyone and I suggest you try to getdown there for 4pm as parking near the steps at sandsend will be busy.

If you have Fish measurers bring them with you as its a catch, measure and release match.

Only one rod fishing at any one time and 3 Three hooks maximum.

Good luck and see you there

A few of us are having a drink in the Hart Inn at sandsend after the match

to go over how we won/ why we didn't win etc

All welcome.

if the tide is ebbing it can be a bit hit and miss, but as soon as you start to flood a cast as little as 3 to 5 yards will see the flatties biting, there is and odd decent flounder, but scalling your snoods down to 8 or 10lb matched with a tiny size 6 or 8 hook will get you a lot more fish, there seems to be a lot of very small turbot and brill about at this time of year, so tiny baits will do well, sorry if this info is a little late wink
