This is a sea angling forum for the debate of all angling related topics, including: shore fishing, boat and kayak fishing. Here you will find pictures of anglers going sea fishing and catching fish. You will find angling related debate. Sometimes anglers will retain fish for the table. Whilst we respect the personnal choice of anglers to follow catch and release practices, this is not a conservation forum and devout conservationists unable to accept anglers sensibly retaining fish should seek out alternative forums. Anyone preaching catch and release or criticising other peoples reports will have their posts removed.

so this is summer fishing
« on: August 10, 2008, 10:48:10 AM »
had a little trip down to my favourite spot at hilston last night.
we went in the vain attempt to catch a thornie, but on arrival we were greeted with what could only be discribed as a perfect winter sea. lots of colour and a swell.
not to be put off myself and fishing buddy mark set up and sent leads flying.
first two casts nothing. then on the third this little beauty fell to marks razor and black cocktail.
.
weighed this morning at 8lb 3oz a new pb for mark.
that was it as far as the fish go. we only had one bite after that and were plagued with crabs.
even so not bad for august.

oh a word of caution.

anyone venturing down there take care. the cliffs are in a terrible state, there has been a lot of falls and there are not many safe get downs. this winter is gonna a massive lump out of the cliffs

Superb effort ...that spot turned out all those good fish just before last Xmas...looks like that one was a little early for this year. Same baits as all my Holderness fish last year.Nice to know that you don't always have to be chucking crab at them to pull them out.
Know what you mean about the cliffs, not high but when up to your waist in clay they get tricky !!

I was going to go waste some crab today til I woke and saw the trees bending over in the wind again.......soon be time though for proper fishing...those evenings of preperation before the open matches and then the decisions of where to fish...(deffo not that bloody drive !)

So before they get put in room 101 I m spending the afternoon making rotten bottom release pins and tying a few of the 200 Varivas big mouth 5/0's That the nice man at Veals delivered the other day (along with some funny looking round hooks don't know what I'll do with them     )

New reflective tape is fitted to the rod tips and just a little bit of bait still to collect and then Worm is ready to go...yeehaaa........Luv it !!

the cliffs are almost verticle in places but the worrying thing is that last march i could drive up the cliff edge towards grimston on a bit of road. not now its gone and what hasn't is all cracked ready to go. someone has filled in at the side of the blocks. why? you can only go another 10yards. even the farmer has left the last few yards of his field to go over.
